On Saturday 1/17/09, Ehud Olmert, Israel's prime minister, has announced a unilateral truce in the Gaza Strip. The announcement came after a meeting of Israel's security council on Saturday evening and halts the 22-day offensive which has left more than 1200 Palestinians dead, more than 400 of them children and More than 5100 people have also been wounded. 10 Israeli soldiers and three civilians have died in the same period
