Professor Mazin Qumsiyeh is an author, scientist, and activist who previously served on the faculties of Yale, Duke, and the University of Tennessee. In 2008, he returned to Palestine to co-found several impactful community institutions, including a medical genetics laboratory and the volunteer-run Palestine Institute for Biodiversity and Sustainability (PIBS) at Bethlehem University. He has published over 160 scientific papers, hundreds of articles, and several books spanning human rights, biodiversity, and popular resistance. Despite facing harassment and arrests for his activism, his global lectures and community programs have empowered thousands of youth and earned him numerous prestigious international awards for social courage and non-violent resistance.
